covered with brownish black setae ; sheath persistent , longer than internode , yellowish
brown , lower part coriaceous , upper paryraceous to thick papyraceous , with brownish
black setae on back , extremely dense on lower part , densely covered with purplish spot ,
sometimes with brown-nish black setae on margin ; sheath auricle absent, erect caducous
cilia on the two shoulders of sheath mouth ; sheath ligule truncate , 1.5mm high , tip
often incised sheath blade linear lanceolate, turned outside . 9-25 twigs ,3-4 leaves on
twigs , leaf sheath 4-7.5 cm long , leaf auricle small , leaf ligule with cilia when young
, leaves lanceolate , 10-16 cm long , 1-1.7 cm wide , densely covered with short and hard
hair on its back , shoot sweat , edible , culm used for weaving .
