Height 3-5, diameter 2-3 cm. Nodes of lower part of culm shortened and irregular swollen,
or marked swollen(about 1 cm) below joint of some internodes. A ring of white cilia on
sheath annulus and at the sheath bases; sheath purplish or yellowish green, with no
auricles; shealth ligule very short, truncate or slightly convex, with long cilia along
its edge. Shoot period in China early May. An excellent ornamentel species because of its irregular culm forms. Used
