Height 8-12 m , diameter up to 10 cm . internoder near culm base often covered with yellowish longitudinal striae ; culm annulus and sheath annulus moderately convex ; sheath reddish purple , covered with dark purple spots , smooth and thinly pruinnose , its edge and top deep reddish purple ; no sheath auricles and cilia ; sheath ligule developed , dark purple , its tip truncate or convex , its edge densely covered with long brownish red hair ; sheath blade rainbow-like with bright color , its margin orange yellow , middle part green purple inverted , slightly rugose ; leaf sheath has auricles and humeral hair , purple when young . culm used as sunning pole . handle of farm implement , or used for construoting shed . shoot sweet and delicious
